Last Club Walks
re-boot: 13th September
the 13th September we had our first walks
since lockdown. 22 Boghoppers went on 5 separate
walks and enjoyed some perfect walking weather.

Fairburn to Ledsham (6.8 miles)
members of the Sherburn Boghoppers met up for a walk
led by Carol & Milece.
The weather was
good from the start and we all set off feeling happy
and eager to get walking together again.
We all managed to
park on the roadside above the visitor centre
avoiding the £4 parking fees.
walking along Newfield Lane a track through woodland
and leading on to fields. We eventually reached the
village of Ledsham and admired the Church standing
proud since being built in the 8th.
Century. Also noticing the old orphanage which has
been converted into flats, and the old school house.
We took a coffee
break after spotting a table and chairs by the
roadside near the Chequers Inn then continued our
walk across fields over stiles and through kissing
gates back to Fairburn.
We turned down
Cut road and followed the river bank trail pausing
at the end to have our lunch.
refreshed we continued extending our walk a further
1.8 miles on a circular route along the coal tip
trail and back to the car park.
