COVID-19 Pandemic

On Monday 9th March the UK Government issued advice  to avoid all but essential travel and to minimise social interaction in an effort to limit the spread of the virus.

To comply with his advice it has been decided to suspend the normal club's walks programme.

The club is now organising a series of trial walks during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please view the Trials Walk Programme web page. many members will already have been contacted by email.

Lake District 2021

Those intending to go this year should already have been informed by Jean that this years trip has been postponed because of the COVID -19 pandemic and that all bookings have been transferred to Friday 2nd July 2021 - Sunday 4th July 2021.

General Information

Following the need last year to call the Mountain Rescue, I’ve been made aware of a new way of contacting the emergency services by a “TEXT” message rather than a normal voice call.

A TEXT message is much more likely to get through than a normal voice 999 call in poor signal areas.

You need to register your phone details beforehand to use this service. If you are interested, details of how to do this can be found in the attached document.

COACH PICKUPS OUTSIDE SHERBURN

To give the Club secretary sufficient time to order the right sized coach, members who intend to be picked up  other than in Sherburn should let the secretary know (either phone call or email) at the latest by the Wednesday evening before the Sunday walk. The uncertainty as to just how many people intend to travel on the coach would then be reduced and an appropriately sized coach ordered.
